Skout Users Love Being Kind

SKOUT is an amazing app that makes it easy for users to connect with people from all over the world. In an effort to see how people truly feel about random acts of kindness, Skout surveyed 2,700 of its users.

Though most people admit to having an extremely busy life, 51 percent of college students surveyed said they perform a random act of kindness everyday. That’s pretty amazing. Especially when you consider 93 percent said they have done something kind for a complete stranger. This according to an article posted on

Besides asking how many students had performed a random act of kindness, the survey also asked each student to rank their top 10 acts of kindness. The results are as follows:

#1 – Paying it forward through the drive thru.
#2 – Thanking someone for being a friend via text message.
#3 – Hugging a friend for no reason.
#4 – Leaving a very generous tip.
#5 – Filling up the gas tank after borrowing a friends car.
#6 – Writing a nice message on a piece of paper and placing it somewhere anyone could find it.
#7 – Dropping some spare change in the charity box at the local grocery store.
#8 – Holding the door open for someone.
#9 – Buying flowers or chocolate for someone who would really appreciate it.
#10 – Taking flowers to the nursing home and delivering them to someone who doesn’t get a lot of visitors.

Please know these are ranked in order of most meaningful to least meaningful among those who were surveyed.

This survey was done in celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Week which took place February 15-20, 2016.

The SKOUT employees got in on the fun by holding a food drive and performing random acts of kindness throughout the San Francisco area.

Though Random Acts of Kindness Week has come and gone, let’s try to make this an everyday thing. Being kind doesn’t take a lot. A simple hello with a smile on your face can do more good than you realize.

So the next time you are walking down the street, instead of texting on your phone or allowing yourself to be distracted by something that doesn’t really matter, hold your head up and greet those around you. You might just make someones day.

Bruce Levenson

NBA is a popular league in the USA commanding an enormous number of audiences both elite and middle class. Consequently, the American basketball league boasts as one of the high net worth basketball leagues globally. According to Forbes, an average NBA team is now worth $ 630 million. The finding means that to be an NBA owner, one must be pretty rich.

This elite group (the owners) consist of a pool of high net worth individuals with well-established business empires globally. An NBA owner is typically a billionaire. It is a must have money situation to secure a place in the list of NBA owners.

One of the NBA owners who have contributed significantly towards managing one of the famous NBA teams is Bruce Levenson. Levenson, a former co- owner of the Atlanta Hawks, is one person we must focus on when it comes to NBA owners.

Bruce is a well-known business mogul in America with a wide array of business empires up to his name. The 66-year-old came into the limelight when he purchased the Atlanta Hawks and NHL’s Thrash for a whopping $ 250 million alongside Michael Gearon. Consequently, they obtained the ownership of Philips Arena which is the home ground for the Hawks.

Recently, Bruce Levenson announced his intention to sell his 50.1 percent stake in the ownership of the Hawks. As a result, Michael Gearon alongside his son, Beau Turner and Rutherford Seydel also resolved to sell their 32.3 percent ownership of the team. Another group which owns 17.6 percent stake led by Steven Price also agreed to sell 17.6 percent of the stake.

Bruce Levenson of UCG alongside other partners finally sold the Hawks for a whopping $850 million to Antony Ressler’s’ Grant Hill group. The group, which consists of Former NBA Sensation Grant Hill agreed to the sale amid tight battle from other investors who had expressed strong desire to clinch the ownership of the team. According to reliable sources who seek anonymity, the deal was financed through cash and a form of debt.

The bid for the purchase is probably one of the tough sales deals in NBA history. It took nearly eight months before a suitable bidder took over. The noticeable participants in the bid to take control of the company were Indonesian Billionaire Erick Thohir, Former Grizzlies CEO Jason Levien, Grizzlies minority owner Steve Kaplan and Hank Haron.

As he exits NBA arena, Forbes billionaire Bruce Levenson will be remembered for the positive impact he has injected into the game while serving as a member of the NBA Board of Governors. He will also be remembered for steering the Hawks towards contributing positively to the society when the team visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. He is a figure to remember in NBA and the business world.

Allergan Acquires Pfizer, Executive At Eucatex Reports

The merger of Allergan PLC with the giant pharma corporation, Pfizer, was noted by the famous entrepreneur Flávio Maluf. He is the president of Eucatex, headquartered in Brazil. Pfizer is a long time producer of pharmaceutical products such as Botox, located in the United States. The merger actually involved Allergan buying Pfizer for a large, but undisclosed sum. This is now the world’s largest pharma laboratory. It will be renamed to Pfizer PLC and coupled with this merger, according to Mr. Maluf, will be the introduction of a dozen new drugs that run the gamut of modern medical problems. The stock markets gave a generally positive response to news of the merger, with some price fluctuations that quickly settled at a good and stable stock price for the new company.

New drugs to treat diabetes, reduce the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, and to fight cancer are in trials now. Flávio Maluf noted that the plan is to move the newly merged company to the country of Ireland. This is to reduce the combined company’s tax burden, as Ireland charges at least 15% less in corporate taxes than in the US. The 10% tax rate charged by Ireland will increase total profits by reducing operational overhead. The difference is more than the annual profit margin for many companies still operating in the US. This dramatic lowering of their tax burden has made a way for Pfizer’s current executives to easily defend this major change to their business.

In recent years there have been many mergers of large corporations that resulted in the combined companies leaving the US, because of the tax savings. The US government has worked to stem the flow of US businesses out of the country, especially those that have migrated to Asia. Out of the drug trials the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has so far approved one new cancer fighting drug that works in the treatment of breast cancer. In the past, Allergan has done good research in areas of well being and maintaining the health of women, especially in the area of eye vision.

Both GrandFood Group and Eucatex are owned by Flávio Maluf and the Maluf Family. These companies own the popular Premier Pet and Golden Rations brands. The son of Paulo Maluf, a politician in Brazil, the middle aged Flávio Maluf has long experience in business. He has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the famous Brazilian FAAP.  A full bio can be found here.

Distillery Expansion Attracts Dick DeVos Investment

Coppercraft Distillery has been one of the successes of the Michigan economy in recent years after expanding since establishment in 2013 to supply liquor drinks to more than 100 locations. MLive reports the growth of the company had made finding investment an important aspect of the future of the company for founder Walter Catton III who has been seeking to expand the company beyond the Michigan area. The Dick DeVos backed Windquest Group has recently seen an application for the liquor license held by Coppercraft to be transferred to its name as the first stage of investing in the company.

The plans for expansion include a wide range of options being discussed by Catton III as possible avenues to explore for the future, including the expansion of the distribution network beyond the 100 locations already served. The chance to make the distillery itself a popular location is also being explored as the 50 seater tasting room is an area also to be upgraded; Walter Catton III believes the addition of a kitchen could provide a boost to the future of the company and the Holland Township it is located in.

Dick has spent the majority of his career with AmWay, but also looks to make sure the people of the state of Michigan are an integral part of the success of the company. Through the Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation a number of charter schools have been established in Michigan providing a specialized education for the youth of the state.

Entering a new industry is often a moment of fear for many business people, but for Dick the need to expand his own horizons has led him to some of the most high profile industries in the world. Following the DeVos family taking control of an NBA franchise it was Dick DeVos who made sure the Orlando Magic had the best chance of success by controlling the day to day running of the club. A final decision must be made by state authorities on the transference of the liquor license to Windquest Holdings, but the move to ownership of Coppercraft has already begun for Dick DeVos. The acquisition of the Coppercraft Distillery will add to the business ventures held by Windquest, which also include Reserve Wine and Foods and Boxed Water.’

FreedomPop Looking To Expand Globally

FreedomPop is a wireless internet and mobile phone service provider. FreedomPop’s mission is to deliver free and quick mobile services to all Americans. FreedomPop was established in 2012, as a new wave telecom company. FreedomPop’s headquarters is located in Los Angeles, California. The company has investors including Skype, DCM, and Mangrove Capital.

FreedomPop’s wireless service runs through Sprint’s LTE network and 3G CDMA networks. The team at FreedomPop consists of entrepreneurs who are focused on providing customers free mobile services in a similar manner to Skype and other services. Thanks to a unique approach, FreedomPop offers customers free phone service, internet, and broadband.

Recently, FreedomPop has raised millions of dollars in funding, and plan to start selling a global hotspot. Using this method, FreedomPop hopes to gain more recognition against their more well known competitors, who charge high rates for travelling abroad.

FreedomPop CEO Stephen Stokols said that the company is able to offer lower prices due to striking deals in each of the countries that uses the service. Agreements with new countries are expected to be announced very soon. Freedom Pop will sell a hotspot that can be used in different regions. Customers will receive 200 megabytes of data each month free of charge.

FreedomPop’s marketing strategy is mostly based on word of mouth instead of an expensive advertising campaign. Stokols feels that recent funding rounds should help the company improve its customer support. Stokols also hopes to expand FreedomPop into retail.

FreedomPop’s international service will be available in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Austria, and Greece, among other countries in Europe. The company plans on reaching new markets in Latin America and Asia as well.

No faith has never yet been broken, except that of a truly faithful dog. There’s a reason dogs are man’s best friend and it’s not just because of the puppy dog eyes or the way they stare at you when you’re home early, and they know they’ve been up to something cheeky. Dogs are the most devoted and affectionate of animals. Dogs, like humans, need to be taken care of to ensure they stay healthy. A proper diet is a good way to start. We’re starting to see a growing trend today, where pet owners are getting more and more conscious of what their dogs are having for lunch or breakfast. Traditional pet food industries are stepping up their game by focusing on more organic, healthier alternatives for dogs. A recent article in the Daily Herald quotes Richard Thompson referring to the current times as the next level of feeding pets. The article also points out the trending “eat-like-your-owner” strategy that’s being adopted by many pet food industries. The healthy and fresh movement is slowly seen transitioning from humans to animals. Companies like Purina are stepping up their game to bring up products that offer healthier dog food alternatives.Purina even has an Amazon web page where pet owners can specialize and mix up different recipes and blends since “the best nutrition is personalized”, as they say. Purina’s Beneful product line has been leading the industry since its inception in 2001. The product line includes wet and dry dog food and treats. Beneful was 2012’s fourth favorite dog brand raising more than 1.5 billion dollars in revenue yearly. Beneful introduced its first premium dry food for dogs that featured meat as the primary source of protein in 2003 and has been a hit among dog owners. It also introduced organic prepared dog meals for the first time in 2006. The line featured eight different flavors and was recognized at Pack Expo awards in 2007 for its packaging that included multipurpose containers that could also serve as bowls for dogs. By the end of 2006, Beneful was generating sums of up to 300 million in revenues as a testament to its greatness. Beneful’s is a product of market leading research and continuous effort to provide the best in nutrition for dogs. Innovations in the premium dog food industries are making it easier for dog owners to keep their dogs in top shape. It has seen the sales of these premium brands go up by 45% up to 10.5 billion dollars in the US.
